In what seems like a very short time, Scott Devine’s online portal Scott’s Bass Lessons has become a real phenomenon and an inspiration to thousands of bass players around the world. His easy manner and unique approach to both teaching and playing has gained him a huge and loyal following throughout the international bass playing community.
Part of this unique style encompasses Scott’s own philosophy of ‘economy of movement’, which is made easier to achieve through his adoption of instruments with a shorter scale length and closer string spacing than is usual.
We have been building basses for Scott, almost since he began playing the instrument – and three years ago we launched the SDS range, based around the design of his own gigging five strings…
However, these are not the only basses we have built for Scott and in response to many requests to recreate the bass he uses in so many of his on-line tutorials, the J Series “Scott Devine Model” is now available as a designated model within the Overwater range.
Based on the original custom 4 string bass we built for him back in 2010, with an ‘undersize’ body profile, narrow string spacing and shorter 33” scale, this bass encompasses the physical attributes associated with Scott’s own style and playing philosophy.
