Hi. I bought an Aspiration Elite 5 string approx. 4 years ago. It's a through-neck and damn good! I can find no information on these. Bought from Kennys Music in Dunfermline. Many thanks.
That's one for 'ask Chris'. He'll tell you all about it. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
The Aspiration Series basses were a collaboration between myself/Overwater and Tanglewood Guitars "Overwater by Tanglewood", which we participated in from 2009 until 2014. These basses were designed by myself - but manufactured in Asia and distributed around the world by Tanglewood Guitars.
We used two factories for the main production; the Leader factory in northern China and Wildwood, just outside Jakarta in Indonesia - and the original components (hardware and electronics) were made in Korea. I spent some time in both factories establishing the production - but all the manufacture and distribution was handled by Tanglewood, which was ultimatly why we decided to pull out of the deal, as despite Tanglewood being a very good and fair company to work with - everything was done on a very large scale (700 instruments in the first production run) we found it very difficult to control QC...
However - the manufacturing was well done in both factories and we made some very good instruments, but it was the assembly and set-up that sometimes let them down. All fixable, but in the end we decided we were better off continuing as we had been. But an interesting project nevertheless and one from which I learned a lot!
