A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Masters Degree in Contemporary Music Performance and Bachelors Degree in popular music. Chris has worked in many different environments within the music industry. He played with pop acts such as the boy band Blue, grime act Krept and Konan and singer song writer Barns Courtney. In the jazz world he has played with Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Polo Orti and recently won the grand prize at a jazz festival in Romania with his original project - Valmuz. Aside from this he has done a number of theatre shows and has been teaching for over 10 years professional with nearly 4 years experience teaching online.
Chris offers lessons for all levels. He has experience teaching ranging from people that have never picked up a bass before to professionals touring all around the world and have a respected name among the bass community. He also teaches harmony and theory, reading music, production on Logic/Abelton and guitar at intermediate level. The lessons are ideally lead by the student depending on what their needs are and are always adaptable. These can also be in Spanish if that is a preference.
Chris’ specialist teaching areas are varied as he plays lots of styles such as; jazz, fusion, pop, soul, motown, funk, blues, latin and rock. He focuses on developing sound, improvisation/transcription, time, technique and most importantly having fun in the process.
Chris is mostly seen with his award winning originals project, Valmuz. He is offering lessons from beginners to those ready to study a Masters Degree programme and is well versed in a variety of styles of music. He has been privileged to have learned personally from musicians such as; Gary Willis, Michael League, Laurence Cottle, Janek Gwizdala, Perico Sambeat and many others. His passion for music and love for the bass is of utmost in his teaching and playing.
