CONTEMPORARY J SERIES

Our J Series range of basses were introduced in the late 90’s and, as with most Overwater developments, was in response to established customer needs and those looking for an instrument that combines more ‘traditional’ styling with contemporary electronics and a ’boutique’ approach to electronics, build quality and craftsmanship.

Overwater ‘ J’ and ‘ P’ pickups, while maintaining a traditional single coil tonality, combine ‘ noiseless’ hum cancelling technology with internal shielding – using a fine copper mesh to ensure a high quality, low noise output signal.

We offer the preamp options of either our custom ‘flat response’ buffer pre-amp circuit with active pick-up blend and ‘passive’ EQ that combines a more old school approach to the controls, while at the same time, delivering increased flexibility and vastly improved signal quality without effecting the natural resonance of the bass or sound of the pick-up combination.

Alternatively, for a more modern approach, our active 3 band EQ is available at no extra cost. Catering for those who want the facility of additional on-board controls, without loosing the natural resonance and character of the instrument.

Custom Series basses offer ultimate build flexibility; your choice of string spacing, scale length and neck profiles, specified to suit your exact requirements, along with a wide range of wood combinations and finish options in addition to a vast array of custom extras for that extra personal touch.

Available with either with standard or extended bolt-on construction, with one- or three-piece Maple necks, our Custom J Series combines balance and playability with outstanding tonal clarity and visual elegance. Available in 4 and 5 string formats with a wide choice of scale lengths and string spacings, these models offer unlimited scope for every playing style and comes equipped with our own custom electronics, pick-ups and hardware – designed by, and exclusive to, Overwater.

Other manufacturers parts may be specified as a custom option if requested and at our discretion.

We also offer a choice of fingerboard materials and neck laminates, including some figured and ‘roasted’ Maples,  together with a range of fingerboard materials including Rosewood, Figured and ‘Roasted’ Maple, Ebony and Indian Laurel.
